2025 Hyundai Palisade Problems: Complaints, Recalls, Lawsuits & What Owners Should Know

A Hyundai SUV headlight. Headlight issues have prompted a 2025 Hyundai Palisade class action lawsuit.

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade remains one of Hyundai’s most popular midsize SUVs, with an estimated 112,237 Palisades sold this year to date. However, early ownership reports, class action claims and technical service bulletins (TSBs) suggest that this model year is already experiencing ongoing defects.

Drivers report issues with braking performance, visibility, seat belt function, BlueLink connectivity and safety suite technologies that brings the 2025 Hyundai Palisade’s reliability into doubt.

These figures do not include the month of December 2025.1

Common Problems With 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Top complaints from 2025 Hyundai Palisade drivers include:

  • Delayed or failing braking at low driving speeds
  • Violent shaking or grinding while stopping
  • Steering wheel shaking
  • Seatbelts unbuckle by themselves
  • Windshield cracks
  • Lane Departure malfunctions

These complaints reflect real world problems that Palisade owners are experiencing. However, Hyundai’s technical service bulletins (TSBs), which provide dealerships with repair and diagnostic instructions for common problems, offer additional insight into problems affecting the 2025 model year.2

TSBs issued for the 2025 Hyundai Palisade address issues such as:

  • Vibration in the brake pedal or steering wheel
  • ABS system noises when braking over bumps or uneven roads
  • Navigation map and software updates
  • Bluelink service interruptions or dropped connections
  • Seat belt buckle functions, abnormal sounds and debris
  • Reduced air conditioning performance
  • Condensation in exterior lights, such as headlights, fog lamps and tail lights

Together, these complaints and internal communications point to ongoing issues with the Palisade’s anti-lock braking system, internal safety features, headlights and infotainment connectivity features.

2025 Hyundai Palisade Recalls

Two recalls have been issued for the 2025 Hyundai Palisade so far: a widespread seat belt buckle recall prompted by complaints of buckles failing to latch, and a smaller fire-risk recall affecting a limited number of Palisade owners.

Major Seat Belt Buckle Recall (2020–2025 Hyundai Palisade)

  • NHTSA ID: 25V607000
  • Hyundai Recall Number: 283
  • Number of Affected Vehicles: 568,580
  • Safety Issue: The seat belt buckles in the driver, passenger and second-row window seats may fail to latch or unbuckle on their own. Owners may notice that the buckle “click” sounds lighter than normal, or that the push button remains depressed after being pushed.
  • Cause of Defect: Components inside the seat belt buckle assemblies were manufactured out of specification.
  • Remedy: Hyundai dealers will replace the seat belt buckles free of charge.
  • Important note: This is a phased recall. Interim notices were mailed beginning October 23, 2025.3 Hyundai will mail updated recall notices in waves, beginning December 19, 2025 and continuing through December 21, 2026. Some owners may not receive notification for several months.4

2025 Hyundai Palisade Fire Risk Recall

A fire risk warning was issued for a small number of 2025 Palisade owners. Until recall repairs are completed, affected owners are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures.
  • NHTSA ID: 25V291000
  • Hyundai Recall Number: 278
  • Number of Affected Vehicles: 620
  • Safety Defect: Inadequate sealing on the electric oil pump controller may allow moisture to accumulate on the printed circuit board. This can lead to electrical shorting, thermal damage and an increased risk of vehicle fire. Affected Palisade owners may notice a burning or melting odor and an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Light.5
  • Remedy: Hyundai dealers will replace the electric oil pump controller.6
  • Notification Schedule: Recall notices were mailed June 11, 2025.

How to Check If Your 2025 Hyundai Palisade Has an Open Recall

Concerned owners of Hyundai Palisade SUVs can check for open recalls through either of the following directories:

Beyond recalls, some common defects involving the Hyundai Palisade had caused class action lawsuits.

Lawsuits That May Affect Your 2025 Hyundai Palisade

Two active lawsuits allege problems in the 2025 Hyundai Palisade, including braking problems and headlight performance issues. Learn how these lawsuits may relate to your vehicle and impact your ability to pursue an independent auto defect claim.

Faulty Headlight Lawsuit

A lawsuit filed in California alleges that 2020–2025 Kia Telluride and 2021–2025 Hyundai Palisade vehicles were manufactured with headlights that become fogged, unfocused and dim.

According to the complaint, the headlight assemblies were made with defective seals that allow moisture to enter the housing. The moisture may degrade internal wiring and wiring connections. The high beams, low beams, fog lamps and other lights can get progressively dimmer until they no longer emit any light.

Affected drivers state that they are afraid of driving their vehicles at night or in inclement weather, such as rain, fog or snow.7

Palisade and Telluride owners report paying out of pocket for repairs that should be covered by the warranty. Some owners report that replacement lamp assemblies experience the same defect.

Palisade owners and lessees in California may have to opt out of this class action lawsuit to retain their right to pursue an individual lemon law claim.

Hyundai Palisade Braking Problems Lawsuit

Hyundai anti-lock braking system issues have prompted 2023–2025 Hyundai Palisade owners in New York and Ohio to file a class action lawsuit.

The complaint alleges that defective anti-lock braking and traction control systems impair the vehicles’ ability to slow or stop when driving over uneven surfaces.8

In these conditions, the ABS and traction control systems allegedly miscalculate wheel speeds and trigger the rapid, repeated release and reapplication of the brakes. These defect symptoms result in longer stopping distances than is reasonable.

Palisade owners report vehicle skidding, delayed braking response and difficulty bringing their vehicles to a complete stop.

Consult with a lemon law attorney to find out if you need to opt out of any class action lawsuits prior to pursuing an auto defect claim in your state.

How to Schedule Hyundai Repairs

If your vehicle has ongoing issues with its engine, transmission, electrical system or other important components, we recommend that you schedule a repair service appointment with your local dealership.

To schedule repairs for your Palisade SUV:

  1. Locate your nearest Hyundai dealership.
  2. Call the listed number for their customer service.
  3. Request to schedule a repair service.
  4. Be prepared to give your Vehicle Identification Number to the customer service representative.

We recommend that you ask your dealership’s customer service about existing warranties, service campaigns or any open recalls applicable to your vehicle.

While at your repair service appointment, be sure to save any paperwork provided to you by the dealership. Your dealership technician should provide you with repair orders that describe the concerns you reported and any diagnostic work or repairs performed on your vehicle.

What To Do If Hyundai Cannot Fix Your Palisade SUV

If your Hyundai Palisade cannot be repaired to conform to warranty after multiple visits to the dealership or repair facility, you may be able to cover a significant cash settlement under California’s consumer protection laws. Owners of defective vehicles are entitled to recover cash compensation, a vehicle replacement or a lemon law refund under California’s lemon laws.

Keep all repair orders and dealership communications on hand. Our Hyundai lemon law attorneys offer free consultations and provide a thorough review to determine the eligibility of your case. You pay nothing out of pocket for our legal services. Our lemon law attorneys are paid on a contingency basis, which means we receive a portion of the final settlement if you win your claim.
