Fiat Chrysler, now Stellantis, has recalled more than 1 million vehicles after a radio software issue prevented rearview camera images from displaying on the infotainment system.
According to recall documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the radio software prevents the rearview camera signal from properly transmitting to the media screen. The issue is addressed through two separate FCA recalls and will be addressed with an over-the-air software update.

Investigation and Recall Timeline
Fiat Chrysler’s Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance (TSRC) was first informed in October 2023 of a potential issue related to rearview camera displays failing in the affected vehicle population. From then through February 2024, the TSRC reviewed warranty data, field records and customer assistance records to understand the consequences of the rearview camera issues for consumers.
From March to May 2024, the TSRC regularly met with FCA US Engineering to uncover the failure modes and determine whether the rearview camera issues were governed under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.111.
On May 8, 2024, Fiat Chrysler’s TSRC recognized that a radio software issue on certain vehicles was related to the rearview backup camera image failing to display. On June 6, 2024, Fiat Chrysler decided to issue a safety recall.
