Common Buick Enclave Problems

If your Buick Enclave has recurring problems that won’t go away, it may be considered a lemon.

Two vehicles are parked in front of a dealership. A white SUV occupies the right side of the image. On the left side, only the red vehicle's passenger side front wheel is visible.

Under the California Lemon Law, a lemon is a vehicle with recurring problems that will not go away, despite a reasonable number of repair attempts by authorized repair facilities. These problems must negatively impact the use, safety or value of your vehicle.

Many owners and lessees of Buick Enclave vehicles report problems that do just that. Learn more about common problems that 2013–Present Buick Enclave, owners and lessees report in their vehicles. If one of these problems repeatedly appear in your Buick Enclave, you may need to talk to a lemon law attorney about your case.

Engine Problems

If your Check Engine Light illuminates on your dashboard, investigate your vehicle for engine problems.

When this light is illuminated, Buick Enclave vehicles may enter something called “limp mode.” When this happens, your vehicle may experience reduced engine power – a common engine problem for many vehicle owners and lessees. Some Buick Enclave drivers have reported noises coming from the timing chain, while other drivers have reported droning noises coming from the engines. Some drivers have reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that their vehicles’ engines experience or cause spontaneous acceleration, which could increase the risk of a crash.

Drivetrain Problems

The “drivetrain” refers to several parts that transfer power to the wheels, and includes the transmission.

Drivetrain-related complaints submitted to NHTSA reported that some Buick Enclave vehicles shook, ran rough and shut down while driving. Some of these problems may be related to the transmission. Drivers have reported that their Buick Enclave vehicles shudder, bump and jerk while driving. Sometimes, their vehicles reportedly experience hesitation, rough shifting, slipping out of gear and sudden stops.

Brake Problems

Buick Enclave owners and lessees have submitted multiple complaints to NHTSA for recurring brake problems that could compromise their safety. For example, owners and lessees have reported that their brakes feel spongy, and that their brake pedals lock up or don’t work when applied. In some cases, the brake calipers, which are responsible for slowing the vehicles’ wheels, reportedly freeze up. When brakes malfunction in any manner, the risk of a collision increases.

If repeated brake problems appear in your Buick Enclave, your vehicle may be considered a defective vehicle under the California Lemon Law.

Seat Belt and Airbag Problems

If your Airbag Warning Light illuminates on your dashboard, you may need to check on your safety systems.

Many Buick Enclave owners and lessees have reported that their airbags failed to deploy, which puts occupants at an increased risk of injury or death. Seat belts, which are also designed to protect you during collisions, also have problems. Some Buick Enclave drivers report that their seat belt latches don’t work, that their seat belts fail to lock, their seat belts excessively tighten, or their seat belts fail outright.

Electrical Problems

Functional electrical systems are vital to the use of your Buick Enclave. If any part of these systems goes haywire, it can make for frightening malfunctions in your vehicle.

Buick Enclave vehicles with compromised electrical systems may have batteries failing to hold charge, reduced power in the vehicles, or faulty fuel gauges. Many electrical system problems can lead to vehicles shutting down while driving.

If any of these problems repeatedly appear in your Buick Enclave, it may be time to talk to a lemon law attorney about your legal options.
