Common Cadillac XTS Problems and the California Lemon Law

If your Cadillac XTS has recurring problems that won’t go away, it may be considered a lemon.

Under the California Lemon Law, a lemon is a vehicle with recurring problems that will not go away, despite a reasonable number of repair attempts by authorized repair facilities. These problems must negatively impact the use, safety or value of your vehicle.

Many owners and lessees of Cadillac XTS vehicles report problems that do just that. Learn more about common problems that 2013–2017 Cadillac XTS owners and lessees report in their vehicles. If one of these problems repeatedly appear in your Cadillac XTS, you may need to talk to a lemon law attorney about your case.

Electrical Problems

Recurring electrical issues can make your Cadillac XTS unreliable or unsafe to drive.

Complaints submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that this is happening to some Cadillac XTS owners. Infotainment systems, called Cadillac User Experience (CUE), can malfunction or go haywire as a result of unresolved electrical problems.

Some Cadillac XTS vehicles may lose power at random, have drained batteries, or fail to start.

Brake Problems

Cadillac XTS owners and lessees have submitted multiple complaints to NHTSA for recurring brake problems that could compromise their safety.

Drivers have reported that their brakes may squeal, make clunking noises when released, and/or lock up in some driving situations. Some brake problems may be caused by faulty brake boosters, auto braking system failures, or other issues with the vehicle. If your vehicle has recurring brake problems, take it to a local dealership or authorized repair facility for repairs.

Transmission Problems

If your Cadillac XTS has repeated transmission problems like those described below, take it to a repair shop to have your vehicle checked out.

Common transmission problems include shaking and shuddering, jerking, grinding noises, shifting problems and other unnerving symptoms. Complaints submitted to NHTSA reveal that transmissions installed in some Cadillac XTS vehicles experience improper shifting, shudder when the driver changes the gears, or fail outright, leaving the driver stranded.

Seatbelt and Airbag Problems

If your Airbag Warning Light illuminates on your dashboard, you may need to check on your safety systems.

Drivers of Cadillac XTS vehicles with faulty airbags or seatbelts are at increased risk of injury or death if these problems are not remedied. Such drivers have reported in complaints that their airbags fail to activate, or that their seat belts lock or have faulty buckles. As a result, they may have less protection during collisions.

If your Cadillac XTS experiences repeated problems that will not go away, it may be time to consult a lemon law attorney about your legal options.
