Common Nissan Armada Problems

If your Nissan Armada has recurring problems that won’t go away, it may be a lemon.

Under the California Lemon Law, a lemon is a vehicle with recurring problems that will not go away, despite a reasonable number of repair attempts by authorized repair facilities. These problems must negatively impact the use, safety or value of your vehicle.

Many owners and lessees of Nissan Armada vehicles report problems that do just that. Learn more about common problems that 2013–2020 Nissan Armada owners and lessees report in their vehicles. If one of these problems repeatedly appear in your Nissan Armada, you may need to talk to a lemon law attorney about your case.

Brake Problems

Brake problems are becoming increasingly common among Nissan vehicles, and Nissan Armada models are no different.

The Automatic Emergency Brake (AEB) systems are supposed to detect potential obstacles and trigger emergency brakes to prevent collisions. However, class action suits claim that these systems are prone to false alarms – that is, detecting nonexistent objects and braking when the vehicle isn’t at risk of colliding with anything.

Complaints submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveal that some Nissan Armada vehicles may be equipped with defective brake switches. In some vehicles, the brakes – particularly the parking brake – may fail to engage.

Engine Problems

If your Check Engine Light flashes on, you may want to inspect your vehicle for engine problems.

NHTSA complaints report that engines installed in Nissan Armada vehicles may be prone to nonstarting and cause random deceleration.

In those same complaints, Armada drivers have reported receiving a BCI Malfunction warning. In this case, BCI means Back-up Collision Intervention, and refers to a system that detects rear obstacles.

Drivetrain Problems

The “drivetrain” refers to several parts that transfer power to the wheels, and includes the transmission.

Several Nissan models are equipped with continuously variable transmissions, or CVT transmissions, which class action suits have claimed to be defective. Defects named in the complaint and in related complaints to NHTSA include non-shifting, delayed shifting, shuddering, vehicle hesitation, fluid leaks and even transmission failure.

Seat Belt and Airbag Problems

Seat belts and airbags are designed to keep vehicle occupants safe when car crashes occur. However, these systems have generated complaints from Nissan Armada drivers.

Examples of such problems include faulty seat belt latches, which may not click (meaning, the seat belt may not stay strapped). As for the airbags, consumers have reported issues with the front passenger airbag, which may put passengers at risk in a crash.
