Ford Recalls 1 Million Vehicles For Backup Camera Issue

Ford has issued a recall of over a million vehicles due to freezing backup camera screens that could increase the risk of a rear-end crash.

According to recall documents, “the center infotainment screen may freeze followed by a black screen and a system reboot. If this occurs during a backing event, the rear-view image may be frozen, missing, or delayed.”1

Software issues are behind these unexpected system resets. Ford backup camera issues are not a new issue to owners of recent model year vehicles; Ford has issued 11 backup camera-related recalls this year.
