Recall Rundown: Faulty Turn Signals, Broken Roof Glass and Malfunctioning Rearview Cameras

Kia, Ford and Jeep and Ram are recalling vehicles for problems with roof panels, windshields and rearview cameras.

Notices are expected to be mailed in October and November. If you want to know whether your vehicle is affected by these recalls, read our recall guide to learn how to research recalls affecting your vehicle.

Kia is recalling more than 88,500 model year 2015–2017 Kia Sedona minivans because the turn signals may show the opposite direction than the drivers intended. For example, if a driver intends to show that the vehicle will turn left, the right blinker may activate instead.

The smart junction box is responsible for interpreting the signals from the switch. However, the smart junction box software logic may not correctly interpret the signals.

Kia pinpointed the problem after launching an investigation into 2015–2016 Kia Sedonas and 2017 Kia Sportages, which use the same switches.

When the problem occurs, a driver will see the wrong turn signal indicator on the instrument panel.

Notices will be mailed November 12. Kia dealers will update the software in the smart junction box.

Ford is issuing two recalls of 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E vehicles because improper bonding of the panoramic roof glass or windshield glass may allow the components to detach.

The first recall affects nearly 21,000 Mustang Mach-E vehicles. Problems with the windshield urethane adhesion could lead to poor bonding of the windshields and, in one case, water leaks. In some cases, the windshields could detach. Signs of a loose bond include water leaks or wind noises while driving.

Notices will be mailed October 27. Ford dealers will remove and re-install the windshields.

The second recall affects more than 15,000 Mustang Mach-E vehicles. The panoramic roof glass panels may come loose because they are not properly bonded to the vehicles. Notices are expected to be mailed October 27. Ford dealers will remove and re-install the panoramic glass roof panels.

Jeep is recalling more than 58,000 model year 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles because software errors in the Harman radios may prevent the rearview camera images from appearing.

These errors violate federal safety standards, which require that rear visibility systems default to the rearview image at the beginning of any backup event, regardless of modifications the driver previously chose.

The Harman radios malfunction when the vehicles are shut down, which prevent the rearview camera images from displaying when the vehicle is restarted. Affected vehicles were built between December 3, 2020 and September 13, 2021.

Notices are expected to be mailed November 10. Dealers will update the radio software.

Ram is recalling nearly 24,000 model year 2019–2021 Ram ProMaster City vans because the turn signal indicator lights can fail.

When a turn signal fails, a warning appears on the instrument panel. However, affected ProMaster vans will have the turn signal indicator lights appear normally, even if the turn signal themselves have failed.

Chrysler said these problems occur to due diagnostic issues in the body control modules. Affected vehicles were built between April 15, 2019 to June 17, 2021.

Notices will be mailed starting November 10. Dealers will update the body controller module software.
